Can one take Ciprofloxacin-for pain, if they just had surgery for ovarian cysts?

Family member just went through surgery for ovarian cysts-she was taking Vicodin for pain.

But she's not able to now, because her Dr. told her not to (causing nausea, and vomiting).

She's in alot of pain-she use to take Cipro for pain-before. My question is: would she be able to take it now?

I am certainly no Dr., but if she is in a lot of pain why didn't the Dr. call in something different? I would call the on call nurse and have her page the Dr. I have never heard of the medication you mentioned but if it worked for pain before I don't see why it wouldn't work for her again. Is this left over medication from awhile ago because it may have lost its potency. Having surgery is a huge ordeal and the Dr. should be available for her if she has problems. I know whenever I have had surgery they always say "if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call". Good luck!

I looked up Ciprofloxicin on WebMD. It is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections so it will not do anything for pain. Actually your family member shouldn't have any of that prescription left over because you should always take all of an antibiotic unless your doctor tells you to stop. If she still hurts and can't take Vicodin she needs to ask her doctor for something different. Good luck. Scooter
