Oxycodone is a narcotic-type pain reliever that contains acetaminophen as well. Oxycodone 5/325 contains 5 mgs. of the narcotic-like substance (derived from thebaine) and 325 mgs. of acetaminophen. The acetaminophen enhances the narcotics effects (and thus reduces the amount of narcotic needed).   Its used to treat moderate to severe pain. Many people know of it as Percocet.    http://www.healthcentral.com/chronic-pain/find-drug-25313-25.html
