Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen.  Percocet is a combination of oxyccdone and acetaminophen.  Technically oxycodone (Percocet) is a little stronger than hydrocodone (Vicodin), but each patient responds differently to various medications, so it generally takes a bit of trial and error to see which works best for you.

To me they are basically the same, as far as pain control.  I've taken a lot of pain meds over the past 6 1/2 years.  Your best bet to get an answer at your fingertips is to go to Wal Mart and pick up their $5.00 "The Pill Book" on prescription pills.  It will give you basic info on just about every drug out there.  I think of this book like a Bible for medication!  I hope this helps!  Good luck to you.
