I have a lump with some swelling about 1/2 inch above the knee. I do have some pain that I believe is sciatic related since I have bone spurs. Can this cause a swelling or lump, or is the lump causing the knee pain?

This could be many things...It could be a fatty tumor, a calcium deposit, a cyst or something called osteochondroma which refers to a bone growth. The best thing to do is to get it checked out by a doctor. They may biopsy it. It shouldn't be too difficult for them to figure out what's going on...Good luck with it.
