Herniated Cervical Disk

Betty Morgan
05/08/08

I have a bulged disk in the cervical area that is painful to the touch at a certain point.  Ice makes it Ok for a while, but it comes back.  My doctor does not like to give RX for paid, only muscle relaxers, which are of limited value.  What do you suggest?

I would suggest getting an MRI test done, and then see either an orthopedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon, there may be a more permanant solution than muscle relaxers forever.  Good Luck with your neck I feel for you, physically!

I have two herniated disks in my neck.  I go to physiotherapy every week to help with the pain.  I have tries a few different kinds of pain medication have different effects on me.  I depends on how your body reacts to different meds.  But over the counter,  you might want to try Advil.  It is like an anti -inflammatory.  To find whats best for you ask your Pharmacist.  Good Luck!

If your MRI showed a bulging disk and your doctor does not want to help then get a second opinion.  I have had 3 surgeries on my c3-4, c4-5, c5-6 all because of herniated disk.  I would also suggest physical therapy before surgery.
