Burning foot pain, body pain, and no diagnosis

My father has suffered excruciating foot pain (aching, burning, pins & needles, etc) in his feet for over 7 years. Not only does he have the pain, but his general health is failing and we have no diagnosis.  As a result of this pain, he has been taking Hydrocodone for the last several years which, in itself, is becoming a problem.  He is generally 'unwell' and suffers depression and fatigue as a result. He has seen every specialist in the book, neurologists, endocrinologists, pain clinics, cardiovascular, rheumatologists, general medicine, oncologists (he stage 0 CLL) and nephrology.  All his blood tests come back normal, he's had clean chest X-rays and clean CT scans.  One doctor said he had 'mild' neuropathy but none other concurred and said that it didn't explain all the pain.  We are at a loss.  He needs to be taken off the hydrocodone and other painkillers, but the pain he experiences off the meds isn't bearable.  We need to find a dx.  If this condition is at all familiar to you please answer.

My husband gets burning foot pain, but he is diabetic.  So they told him it was neuropathy.  He takes Elavil for the pain, and it's helped him a lot.  You can only try.

Oh yeah! I understand completely, I have the very same symptoms, exeacatly. I have diabetic nueropathy. The pain goes all up my leg, it hurts so bad that I actually get sick from the pain. I was taking oxycontim 30mg 3 times a day. It numbed me physically and mentally, I couldn't take the mental part so my doc put me hydrocone 10s, I have to take 2 or 3 at a time and that only last a few hours but it is blessed relief. I sit around a lot with my feet in nice warm water and that helps and manage my diabetes as best I can. I also take 600mgs of lyrica 3 times a day and it helps too.

I hope that he gets some relief-he will be in my prayers. Roger

I have the foot and leg pain as well as arm and hand pain. In Aug. I went into liver and Kidney failure. I started having burning pain all over my body. It is hell I hurt so bad I asked them to Let me die. I couldn't stand to go through this pain any longer. I've been taking lyrica & lidoderm patches which has helped some. I just started on Amitriptyline and oxycodone. All of this stuff has helped but by no means a cure. I am going to see a nero. Doc. at the end of the month. I hoped I could help some

I've suffered from the exact same issues that your Dad has. While reading this question I thought it was sent by my daugther as the probelms he has is the same.

Please let me know if you ever get more information. I'm not working with a doctor from the Hospital Of Special Surgery....

If you find a resolution I would like to hear of it.

I've had burning foot pain (not diabetic) but otherwise "I" would describe it as 'neuropathy...

I've had MRI, xRays& Nerve conductivity tests. I've seen Podiatrist, Physiatrist, Orthopedist, Chiropractor, Cervical Specialist, Reflexologist, Rolfing Massage Therapist. No one has come up with anything...

It has been suggested: Plantar Fascitis Strain...but there's more pain in metatarsal area.  I occassionally have cold sensation between toe & foot junction but it's not cold feet; I run HOT.

The pads of my feet & toes feel 'puffy' which is confirmed by Reflexologist but not significant to other 'specialists.'

I can't stand or walk confortably without medication.

It has been suggested that it's from my 5th Lumbar, S1, S2 but MRI is insignificant.

PLEASE EMAIL ANY 'SOLUTIONS'.  I'm taking Vicodin, Methacarbomal, Naproxin already.  I've tried the glucosamine, chondrotin, MSM and other supplements etc etc

Cindy again...

I will add I also have burning numbness in left outer thigh, diagnosed as 'lateral cutaneous nerve impindgement, supposedly from my 'tummy fat roll & 'age', but none of these were there before the injury that started all this 3 years ago...

I have some job related carpal tunnel numbness in my hands as well as lumbo-sacral myofacial pain from the fall.

L & I sent me to a "pain clinic' which told me my pain nerves are "stuck" on... but offered no resolution other than to "learn to live with it".

I would love to hear from anyone who has had success with anything that minimized the pain.
