Hi Lisa,

I had to have one of these last year when I had a fusion on L4/L5. It is a device that you wear on your back. It reminds me of a steering wheel. It is round and it will help to have your bone heal. It isn't painful at all, in fact when I had mine of it felt like it was a support on my back. You push the button to start the stimulator and wear it for a half hour. You can walk around with it on or sit. It really isn't bad at all, and you don't feel any pain with it. It isn't like the tens machine where you feel the tingling sensation going on, I never felt anything while I had mine on.

I hope this helps you, if you need any more info let me know, but it isn't anything painful at all.

All the best to you.
