Q: I have a raised, straight blueish, swollen vein on the inside of my left forearm, painful for years.

I have heard of schlerotherapy for vericose veins in legs, but not for veins in the arm.  I'm wondering if I should consult a vascular specialist.  This often is very painful, though it is not irritated by exertion of that area.  I have Kaiser Health Care, but they just laugh at me.  It can be so disabling that it can affect me socially, as well as my sex drive.  I work in an office and have wondered if leaning my head on my hand with my elbow on my desk for a long period of time could have created this problem.  Is there a specialist who could give me a diagnosis?

You definitely should consult a vascular specialist. It does not appear, based on my limited reading, to be your usual varicose vein. Plus the WrongDiagnosis site below lists many different causes for vein pain. If this vein is effecting your life to the extent you say it is then it sounds like its time to see a specialist and see if you can get it cleared up.

Good Luck!
