The active ingredients in both (hydrocodone - Lortab, oxycodone - Percocet) are at least partially opium derivatives. Hydrocodone and oxycodone are both narcotic type pain relievers that work by acting on the pain centers in the brain. Both use acetaminophen to increase their potency. They are similar but different.
