Q: does blood work show pancreas problems?

It depends on what kind of pancreas problems you're talking about.  A blood test can suggest acute pancreatitis, although not necessarily chronic pancreatitis.  A blood test can also indicate diabetes, which occurs when the pancreas is not producing insulin properly.  Unfortunately, there is currently no blood test that can definitively detect or diagnose pancreatic cancer. There are, however, certain blood tests that can support a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. 


Depending on what your doctor is looking for, he will order the specific types of blood tests needed to diagnose these potential problems.
