I occasionally experience an intense sharp pain that runs through my right palm to the tip of my ring finger. It's painful and I'll try to shake my hand to relieve the pain. Today it happened again (it's been a few months since the last one) and this time it was pretty intense and traveled so fast, I felt a quick jolt that went through the ring finger and straight up to my head. This is pretty painful but tolerable. It'll go away for a bit, but will pulse in my finger if I start typing. Any idea what is going on?
Of course I can't be sure, but it sounds like it could be the beginning of carpal tunnel syndrome. Here's a link to more information about carpal tunnel: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/carpal_tunnel/detail_carpal_tunnel.htm
Be sure to get your doctor to check it out. If it is carpal tunnel, early diagnosis and treatment can prevent permanent damage. There are things you can do to prevent it from getting worse and strengthening exercises that can help you now. And if it's not carpal tunnel, you need to find out what it might be.
I am having the same problen except it started on my left ring finger and now it has moved to my pinky and palm. It feels like the sensation of hitting my funny bone.
