My understanding is that methylphenidate (Concerta, Ritalin) is generally considered the first choice because it has fewer side effects. Adderall is commonly used as well and will work better in some people. Focalin is an intriguing new drug because you may be able to use less of it to get the same effect and it should have reduced side effects as well.
The fact is, though, that some people do better on some drugs than others; to some extent your body's chemistry will decide what works best for you. Good luck.
