Q: can scar tissue continue to grow in the abdomen over 26 years?

I had a total hysterecomy 26 years ago and 2 weeks later had half of my large intestines removed due to cancer in my apendix.  Over the last 10 years I have battled pain and constant tenderness in my abdomen.  If you palpate the abdomen it sends very sharp rebound pain all the way through to my back.  My abdomen has continued to grow (enlarge) and I have a hard time catching my breath after I bend over to pick something up or put on my shoes.  It feels like I can't get my lungs to fill.

I just couldn't find any information on long-term grow of scar tissue or adhesions after hysterectomy. It's not that uncommon to have adhesions following surgery (http://www.healthguideinfo.com/reproductive-health/p113708/) but I don't know about continued growth. Something has obviously gone wrong, though.

Here's a support site for women undergoing or who have undergone hysterectomies  and others are available on the web. Maybe you can find some answers there...Good luck!
