Monday, July 14, 2008 Robyn Davis asks

Q: Can anyone help me with this question? My mother had a morphine pump inserted in December of 1999

and had to have it filled or repaired in Feburary of 2000, then definately repaired from a tear in it on March 21, 2000, where she was sent home from the hospital on the same day, then that night she went to sleep and never woke up.  How can I find out what  specific pump she had and if there have been any recalls on it?

If you can get a hold of your mothers charts  I would think it would say the specific kind of pump she had installed. Unfortunately recalls on all sorts of 'implanted devices' do occur and companies need to be able to find out which patients have the suspected devices. I would try to find her charts.

Good luck.

I would try to get the operating room medical record it should have all the information about the pump its factory number aned its maker.

also try the surgeons record  their office must have the answers you seek .

I am sorry for your loss, good luck hun
