can I take skelaxin with toradol?
I went to the ER with severe pain in left shoulder blade. It hurt to breath in and out and I could not lift arm up or down. The ER doctor suggested fro me to teke the IV of toradol and then he was going to give me morphine through the IV. I refused the morphine, because I have a sensitive stomach to alot of medications. He told me that I could take skelaxin and he also gave me a prescription for percocet, which I don't think I am going to take it. He really never took any xrays or did any kind of exam. He just told me that it was probably either muscle pain or nerve pain. Do you think I should take the skelaxin? I had just read some side effects of the toradol and it said that if you evere had an allergic reaction like nasal polyps you should not take it. Well I did have nasal polyps in 1981 and 1987 and the doctor never asked me if I had ever had polyps before.
Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant intended for short-term use in painful muscoskeletal conditions. Toradol is a strong drug again used for short-term pain. With regard to nasal polyps Toradol is contradicted if you've had had an allergic reaction to NSAIDS that includes such things as nasal polyps, swelling of the face, difficulty breathing, etc.. The question for you is if your nasal polyps were a result of your taking aspirin or an aspirin-like substance. If they are you should not take this drug. The nurse at the emergency room probably asked you if you were allergic substances. If you said no the doctor probably presumed you would not have a problem with toradol. As always, though, check with your doctor if you have any questions.
