Topics:right side pain

I have had pain on my right side just under my rib cage for about 6 yrs now I have saw gastro. docs x2 , fam. doc.x4, kid. doc., orthoped. doc., and I keep getting sent here and there they all run the same chest x-ray, sonograms x6, light ran down throat, bile test to see how long it takes for it to leave the gallbladder (with this test I was told that I just had a lot of folds in my gallbladder, but what does that mean), blood test, urine test, etc.. Now im being told its depression I take so many pills and I know that there is something there if someone could just find it. nothing seems to stop the pain. putting pressure on my right side where the pain is seems to help some but after a while that makes it hurt worse. I dont know how much more of this I can take. I was told to stop taking motrin so much but that does give some relief and I cant stop the only thing that gives some relief.

Bless your heart!  I can imagine how frustrated you must be.  Unfortunately too often when doctors can't find a physical cause for pain, they tend to blame it on depression.  I wish I could tell you what is wrong, but obviously I can't know that.  I would encourage you to keep trying to find a doctor who will be able to accurately diagnose you.  You know your body better than anyone and you know when something is not right or not normal for you.  You might try an Internist.

What I would suggest you do so you don't have to keep having the same tests done over and over again is to gather copies off all your previous tests and medical records and take them to the next doctor you see. (Be sure to keep a copy for yourself, too.)  Under HIPPA laws, you're entitled to copies of all your medical records.  You may have to pay for the cost of making the copies, but that's all they're allowed to charge you.

As for the Motrin, I can understand your doctor's concern because ibuprofen products like Motrin can be really hard on your kidney, liver and stomach.  But I can also understand where you're coming from.  I, too, tend to take more ibuprofen than I should but am trying to cut down.  I don't know how much you're taking, but the maximum recommended dosage if you're not under a doctor's care is 1200 mg. per day.  If you are under a doctor's care (meaning you're getting regular bloodwork done to monitor potential problems) the maximum daily dosage is 3200 mg.

I do hope you can find someone who can help you soon.  And I hope you'll keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.

Having had this same type of pain on and off for years I have narrowed it down to either eating something that doesn't agree with me or to much.

Also Im lactos intolerant and that can make it react.

I used to eat nuts no problems then i had bad reaction was taken to hospital and given morphine to kill pain which was unbalievable.

I had tests from tubes down into stomach to cameras in the bowl and nothing so I just have to deal with it the best I can.Oh I also find if I get some virus's it can set it off.

Maybe it might be something your body doesn't like and you can find that out by elimination.

Don't know if this will help you but is worth a try.

Best of luck
