I've had upper back pain for the past 4 days. 1 dr said it's a chest infection/pleurisy and gave me anti biotics and another dr said it's muscular and gave me codeine. I'm in agonising pain. I keep having back spasms and can't move when spasms are ocurring. I've also had a chesty cough for the past 3 wks and coughing up phlegm. Please help.

Muscle spasms can be incredibly painful but do generally get better over a week to two weeks. Has either doctor prescribed muscle relaxants such as Flexeril, Skelaxin or Robaxin? These drugs are designed to stop or inhibit the spasm.
