Ultracet Oral Uses

This combination medication is used to treat short-term pain (5 days or fewer). Acetaminophen works by blocking or reducing the feeling of pain. It can also reduce a fever.

Tramadol belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics. It works on a part of the brain to block or reduce the feeling of pain. It may also change the balance of some natural chemicals in your body (norepinephrine and serotonin), an effect that may help reduce pain.

How To Use Ultracet Oral

Take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually every 4 to 6 hours as needed or as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than 8 tablets in a 24-hour period. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.

This medication contains acetaminophen. Do not take more acetaminophen than recommended. (See Side Effects section.) This medication may cause dependence, especially if it has been used regularly for an extended time (more than a few weeks) or if it has been used in high doses. In such cases, if you suddenly stop this drug, withdrawal reactions may occur. Such reactions can include anxiety, sweating, difficulty sleeping, shaking (tremors), diarrhea, and rarely hallucinations. Report any such reactions to your doctor immediately. When stopping extended, regular treatment with this drug, gradually reducing the dosage as directed will help prevent withdrawal symptoms. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

Though it is very unlikely to occur, this medication can also result in abnormal drug-seeking behavior (addiction/habit forming). Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently, or use it for a longer time than prescribed. Properly stop the medication when so directed. This will lessen the chances of becoming addicted.

When used for an extended period, this medication may not work as well and may require different dosing. Talk with your doctor if this medication stops working well.

Inform your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
