Cymbalta, a drug used to treat major depressive order, has shown
promise as a treatment for chronic low back pain in a small
clinical trial. In the study, researchers compared the
effectiveness of Cymbalta to a placebo in 236 patients who suffered
from chronic low back pain. After 13 weeks, investigators found
that 31 percent of patients taking Cymbalta experienced a
50-percent reduction in pain, compared to 19 percent of those given
