Genes may boost risk of gout

Unhealthy diets have been blamed for a jump in the number of people suffering from gout worldwide, but a recent discovery may have uncovered another reason why gout cases have increased. A genetic analysis of more than 12,000 people has found that those who have a particular gene variant have a higher risk of developing gout than people who don't have the variant.
