Non Narcotic Pain Medicines

Actiq better than other narcotics on breakthrough pain

A study at the St. Clare Hospice in England has found that Actiq is more effective than other narcotics in controlling breakthrough pain in cancer patients. Researchers compared Actiq (oral transmucosal fentanyl citrate) to morphine and other "rescue medicines," drugs that are added to a patient's current pain medications when pain becomes sudden or severe. Patients reported that Actiq acted more quickly and effectively on sudden pain than other rescue medicines or a placebo. Read more »
