Pain Medicine While Breastfeeding

Painkillers during childbirth may interfere with breast-feeding

Women who receive an epidural during childbirth are more likely to have problems breast-feeding than women who do not have an epidural, a new study has found. Researchers found that women who received the pain-control medicines had difficulties breast-feeding their babies during the first week and breast-fed their babies less often. Women who received epidurals also stopped breast-feeding sooner than women who did not receive the drugs. Read more »
