When The Brain Has Had Enough Of Chronic Pain

A researcher at Northwestern University has found that a key source
of chronic pain appears to be traces of old memories that remain in
the area of the brain responsible for learning. These memory traces
become essentially stuck in the brain, which causes the patient's
mind to remember the injury as if it were fresh. This triggers
symptoms of chronic pain.
