Experts: Genders feel pain differently

According to experts at the International Association for the Study of Pain, women feel pain more often and for longer than men, and they are less likely to be given the correct treatment for it. Researchers say this may be due to differences in the body composition, hormone levels, and nervous systems of men and women. The investigators also report that some doctors' lack of awareness of these differences may cause women's pain complaints to be dismissed and lead to women being diagnosed with psychiatric conditions such as depression instead.
