Scientists develop system for veterans with chronic pain

An increasing number of veterans are returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with traumatic injuries, injuries that often leave them living with chronic pain and post-traumatic stress syndrome. Now researchers at Boston University School of Medicine have developed an integrated treatment system for dealing with these veterans. The researchers say their system, which includes components of cognitive processing therapy for PTSD and cognitive-behavioral therapy for chronic pain management, is effective at helping veterans cope with both conditions.
