Chronic fatigue syndrome may be caused by retrovirus

Scientists have found that about 75 percent of the patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) in a recent study had been infected with the same retrovirus. Experts say the finding of the retrovirus XMRV in CFS sufferers does not necessarily mean it is the cause of the condition, though it does suggest that it is a viable candidate for a cause. Experts also say the identification of the virus could be a breakthrough in diagnosing and treating the debilitating syndrome.  Read full story >
