Immune Treatment May Help People with Chronic Pain

Researchers say giving a dose of an immune treatment called intravenous immunoglobin (IVIG) to patients with the chronic pain condition known as complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) significantly reduces their pain. CPRS is an unexplained chronic pain condition that can develop in people who suffer an injury to or loss of a limb. The researchers say the fact that IVIG helps people with CPRS may mean it's possible that the treatment may be effective on other unexplained chronic pain conditions.
