Scientists Unlock How Opium Poppy Makes Painkillers

Scientists have identified the genes that allow the opium poppy to make painkillers such as morphine and codeine, a discovery that has eluded researchers for more than 50 years. The researchers say their finding may help them find more efficient ways to make the painkillers in the future.   Read full story >
