Q: How can I tell if my peroneal neuropthy is permanent?

I had surgery in April on my stomach. Due to the position I was in for surgery, I have developed Peroneal Neuropathy. I have numbness of the outside of my calf and on top of the foot. I have a foot drop which is no better now(August) then it was in April. I had the nerve tests done and it showed compression of the peroneal nerve and damage to the nerve itself. How long should it be before I see any improvement, and will I get full use of the leg and foot back?
