I am not a Doctor or a Nurse, but, since no one else has answered, I think I can help. I also realize that this question is a little stale, and the person who wrote it is either a lot better or a lot worse by now, but maybe this will help someone else.   There are several things that can cause what you are describing. The most likely causes are pleurisy or pneumonia. The pain is probably not from your heart, but from something else near your heart. Still, any kind of chest pain needs to be checked out.   I definitely recommend that you see a doctor. You need to get that cough taken care of anyway. Based on what I have read, however, the kind of pain you describe seems to be something that some doctors have a hard time correctly diagnosing. If you don't get satisfactory help from one doctor, don't hesitate to try another one, or at least go back to the same one and have him take another swing at it.
