Earlier in the week it seemed like the flu but now seems like a cold

Joe

On Sunday I came down with what I thought was the flu (sore throat, aches and pains, extremely tired, and a fever that got up to 101.4) but then overnight after plenty of rest and fluids it turned into a cold (no fever, runny nose, coughing, and chest congestion). I got the flu shot back in November. This is a 2 part question: 1. Did my flu vaccine reduced this to a cold? and 2. In my contagious stage am I spreading a cold or the flu?
