When the H1N1 flu virus first hit the news in 2009, it was first called "swine flu" because this particular type of virus was first seen in pigs. Many people thought the name meant they could actually catch this flu from pigs, so they stopped eating pork products to protect themselves.
But the H1N1 flu virus is simply an influenza virus that is contracted the same ways as other types of flu. You can't get it from eating pork, which is good news for both pork farmers and pork-product lovers!
