A new study published in the journal Biological Psychiatry has found that if a woman contracts the flu virus during pregnancy, her baby is more likely to develop schizophrenia. Researchers discovered that fetal exposure to the influenza A virus leads to cognitive problems by age seven among children who later develop a psychotic disorder such as schizophrenia as adults.
