Scientists develop vaccine for the "uncommon cold"

An international team of scientists say they have developed a vaccine for the human adenovirus type-3, otherwise known as the "uncommon cold." The virus got this name because though its symptoms--runny nose, sore throat, cough, and fever--are similar to those of the common cold, they are typically much more severe and can even be fatal. According to a press release from George Mason University, a research team has discovered a DNA-based vaccine that has effectively protected mice from being infected with the adenovirus type-3 virus.
