Experts: Flu season off to a slow start

Experts at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say there are far fewer cases of the flu in the United States so far this year compared to last year, which suggests that Americans may be in for a mild flu season. According to experts, the most common flu virus this year is influenza A--primarily the H1 viruses. This is one of the groups of viruses included in this year's flu vaccine, but it does not respond to the flu drug Tamiflu. CDC officials say that though exact numbers are difficult to come by, the states with the most cases of flu so far this year are New Jersey and Virginia.   Read full story >
