H1N1 flu cases, deaths surge in recent days

Officials with the World Health Organization (WHO) are reporting that the United States and other countries saw a surge in the number of H1N1 (swine) flu infections and deaths over the weekend. WHO reports that 7,873 more people worldwide were known to be infected with the H1N1 virus since Friday, and 51 more people died from the virus. This amounts to a total of more than 52,000 people infected and 231 dead in the pandemic. In the United States, 3,594 new cases were reported since Friday, for a total of 21,449 people infected and 87 deaths.  Read full story >
