FDA cites company for unlawful marketing of cold remedies

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent a warning letter to drugmaker Proctor & Gamble over its products Vicks DayQuil Plus Vitamin C and Vicks Nyquil Plus Vitamin C. The letter states that the company is illegally marketing the cold and flu remedies because they are combinations of drug ingredients and a dietary ingredient. FDA officials say there is insufficient evidence that vitamin C is a safe and effective cold remedy, and that there is not enough evidence that it is safe to use combinations of of drug and dietary ingredients in one product.
