Diabetes Linked to Colon Cancer Risk: Study

New research appears to confirm the link between diabetes and colon cancer. The results, which included results from 14 international studies, found that diabetics were 38 percent more likely to be diagnosed with colon cancer than people who were diabetes-free. Experts say that the studies do not prove that diabetes causes colon cancer, but they say that the hormone insulin may be one reason for the link. For now, researchers say that diabetics do not need to be screened for colon cancer earlier than other adults unless they have another condition or family history that puts them at particularly high risk.
