International Food Blogger Conference Part II

by mthompson on November 23, 2011

Last week I attended the IFBC International Food Bloggers Conference out in Santa Monica, California.  I spent 5 days out in LA and had a wonderful time.  The weather was beautiful and who can resist waking up to palm trees everyday?

The conference started on Friday afternoon and went thru Sunday afternoon.I was able to meet many of my fellow virtual blogger friends who were wonderful to meet in person.

I sat in on many panels…everything from SEO to wine pairing to eating with food allergies.

Breakfast was served by Organic Valley which was delicious and a beautiful spread of yogurts and milk.

Thursday night I attended an IFBC pre-conference party hosted by Pamela Braun, which was a great way to break the ice and meet some of the food bloggers that live half way across the world…it’s so fun meeting someone in person when you’ve only connected via the internet.

I sat in on a panel by Amelia Saltsman who writes and is the author and publisher of the award-winning The Santa Monica Farmers’ Market Cookbook: Seasonal Foods, Simple Recipes, and Stories from the Market and Farm.

Lisa Ekus, who’s website is .  She was an amazing presenter who talked about how to pitch your book idea and stand out in the crowd. She said the most popular books these days are Vegan, Gluten-Free and Southern Cooking, which I found quite interesting!

I was so happy to finally meet my good phone and internet friend, Ashley Koff, RD who writes

Ashley spoke on the IFBC panel (picture below) about food allergies; she’s a great resource for the gluten-free community and the healthy living community.

A beautiful Santa Monica restaurant, hosted a complimentary blogger brunch for IFBC attendees on Sunday morning before we said fairwell to our blogger buddies.
