Hello Anita,

You're very welcome. I'm glad this information is helpful! And congratulations! It sounds like you're taking control of your health.

People who have lots of mucous every morning should practice "pulmonary hygiene," and that is, simply, having a routine to keep your lungs clean - just as you do when you take a shower, brush your teeth, etc. Most patients I've worked with on this seem to have a lot of gunk to clear out at first, but once they establish a routine, the secretions are more controllable and predictable and the routine becomes easier.

Great idea to check with your doc, and also make sure to ask the staff at Pulmonary Rehab. We Respiratory Therapists can be a odd lot... unlike most other health care professionals, we like talking about secretion clearance because we really understand the importance of having clean, clear lungs and we see what a huge benefit it is to our patients!

Absolutely! You are not alone! Thanks for joining in!

Breathe well today,

Jane.
