Dear Mattsmadre,

As with any disease, disorder or deficiency, having an accurate diagnosis is the first step to the best care and treatment possible. If you know you have COPD for sure, you can stay on top of monitoring the progression - or hopefully, stability - and modify treatment accordingly.

If you see a pulmonary specialist, have a spirometry test and give your doc a good health history, you should be on your way to a correct diagnosis, no matter what it is.

Hope this helps!

My Best,

Jane
