diagnosed and sent on my way  read all i could online yea its copd  the last 10 years i just kept caughting everything  recent 3 years i've begged differnt drs   to diagnos my condition   may of this year i just couldn't breath good anymore er's  dr office now advair and nebulizer everyday   oh dr well now i have to do a sleep study for apner friday  i'm a teachers assitant and i know what to look forward to  the amount of sickness in the schools these days is outrageous   so do i go back into an inviorment where i know i'll caught 2 of something each month or quit and pursue the job of living .........  my dr ask me if i was depressed during my appointment 2 weeks after he diagnosed me  i said no .............well now 6 weeks later i can say yes ......and i called today and ask my fev1 oh they say since the first one in 2008 and now they are normal .....really i said well why am i constanty short of breath now    well it's possibly because the exacerbation (of may) has created a new baseline for me........don't i know it!       i guess i just want my dr to say more yea just like you said bad days good days???????NEVER ANY MORE DAYS AS I ONCE KNEW THEM  i smoked 11 years ago i quit  so you never know......... God grant me the serenity  AMEN to that prayer  thanks so much

Yes, it happens quite often that people are diagnosed then sent on their way, just as you say.

 

I'm glad you're seeking information. This is a great site, and there are many others. Just a word of caution....stay with the reputable sites and stay away from those who claim to cure your problems. 

 

It sounds as if your docs doubt that it's COPD. You should ask them if your shortness of breath could be due to something other than lung problems. Maybe your heart?

 

Hang in there, Anonymous, and keep asking questions of your docs. Maybe they'll find some answers with the sleep study. And don't stop talking with others to share information and support. There are a lot of folks out there who want to help, and this is a good start.
