     I stopped smoking on 3 October 2009, and so far, I have not had

too much trouble with cravings.  I think it is my mindset that

is helping.  In the last five of so years, I tried to quit so many

times but got nowhere.

     This time, I actually set up a plan, and I am following it to the

best of my ability.  I read up on what to expect when quitting;

I wrote out in my quit journal, actions I could take when an unexpected

craving hits; I have a list of phone numbers of people I can call to

give me some encouragement when needed; I reward myself for each

success I have.

     Another thing I use is gratitude for my friends who are there for me.

Since this is a powerful addiction, that I am powerless over, I came to realize

that alone, my way didn't work.  Staying close to this site, has also been

 critical part of my quit plan.

     What a wonderful feeling it is to realize that I am imperfect; that I do not

have all the answers; that I do need outside help, and it is there for

the asking.
