One month Smoke Free.  I think I have found out why I had difficulty

with all my other attempts to quit smoking.  I never really drew up a plan

for quitting.  I just winged it.  Oh! I read the literature and took the

Patch, or Gum, or whatever, but I had no real plan.

This time, I wrote everything down; reasons for quitting, who to call,

coming on this site, and concentrating on my main reason to quit-

COPD.

I try not to focus on quitting smoking;  I try to focus on my

reasons for quitting.  I am much more comfortable with this quit,

because I feel like I am doing something good for myself.  Before,

I had the "poor me attutude."  Feeling sorry for myself, my negative

attitude only keep me in a vicious cycle of smoke, cough, smoke

another, cough some more until I was too short of breath

to smoke another.

   I really feel GOOD!

John
