Hi all - was asked how my smoke free vacation went and happpy to report that it went very well .... we even went to a casino to see a review ... the smoke was thick in the air and yet I had no urge, just got a sore throat and itchy eyes from all the smoke ... lol ... I really was put to the test ...

I had no idea how much I don't miss this nasty habit ... and realized that it really is an awfull habit ... I will consider myself as an alcoholic , in recovery for life ... as I am going on 96 days and smoke free ...

When we left the show, we went to a restaurant and lo and behold , I still was able to not have that desire for a smoke .. must have been the great company I was with .. or just the fact that as we exited the casino, we smelled like cigarettes .. that was my greatest turn off ...

My throat and eyes stung from the thick smoke hovering overhead , but I laughed it off and just enjoyed the rest of my stay .. after 38 yrs. of smoking , it was great to be able to feel free ..

The real test was when something stressful should occur .. I now know I am truly smoke free , guess it is mind over matter , so going through IBS and GERD issues helped me to just stay in line with my breathing excersizes and stay calm ...

So for all of you doing this, I understand , and I know I made the right choice ... keep up the great work, keep your self calm, and keep the strength we all have within us to do this ... agserra

Hey - so glad to hear the vacation was a great success.  I thought you might be intersted in reading some of the posts form our Expert Anne Mitchell.  In particular she writes about the healing of our bodies when we quit - and how it starts immediatley after the last cigarette one has!  ( I have asked her to send me this link as I cannot recall the title at the moment!) This was so encouraging to me after so many years of smoking and then even not smoking to know that I could still have a healthy body.

Hope this helps.  I'll reply again with the link from anne asap - all the best and stay in touch.  sue
