At a Glance

The classic symptoms of COPD are progressive shortness of breath, a phlegm-producing cough and wheezing. Many times people with COPD will not seek help, because they think their symptoms are signs of normal aging. Depending on whether you have chronic bronchitis, emphysema or both, your symptoms may be more specific to one disease.
