Q: My son has started smoking. He is 18. How can I best encourage him to stop.

Does he drive the family Car, Is there something you provide he needs. Use this as a tool for rewardinghim for doing research. No research, no reward. Now have him research smoking. Start with http://www.thetruth.com/  Have him research What chemicals are found in Cigerettes. Have him make a cost spreadsheet as to the finincial aspects of smoking. There you have done you part and now the decission is his. He's 18 and capable of making the decission for himself. Once he makes it, he has to live with . As a parent, you did your part. Oh yea, he may say, I can quit any time he wants, I said that for 40 years.
