Remedies for COPD sufferers.

I have been a heavy smoker most of my life (50-70 a day) I began at the age of 12 and carried on until I was 64. When I was 61, I had pneumonia of one lung and was treated accordingly.  A few years later, I began to have problems with my breathing. Had a respirometry and was diagnosed with COPD.  I am presently using PRIRIVA, SYMBICOR, ATROVENT and VENTOLIN.  A few weeks ago, I was down with a severe cold and a fever of 38.8ºC The cough was so violent that I may have developed a slight hernia. That I will have it checked later on this month. I have totally quit smoking 4 years ago. I am wondering if an oxygen-replacement therapy would be beneficial, as I am still very active workwise.

Thanks for your kind advice.

Bibi

Be careful - avoid people who are sick.  A bad cold could hospitalize you for weeks.  I am not familiar with oxygen replacement yet but I would suggest looking into a bipap machine for nights.  Ask your doctor/respitory specilist.  I am not a dr or an expert but have been dealing with my dad who has COPD and has been in the hospital for over 3 weeks upon cathing a cold from my mom.  It has been horibble.  My sympathies to you and your condition.  God bless.
