Wednesday, September 22, 2010 annabell asks

Q: I am 60 I was diagnosed with emphysema 10years and ago, I stopped smoking straight away.

I am female my blood oxygen is good at rest but as soon as i start to move around it drops to the low 80s and sometimes into the 70s could i get oxygen therapy for getting around.

Hi Annabell... You definitely sound like a candidate for supplemental oxygen therapy and I would encourage you to consult with your doctor to discuss your options. It could be that you only need to use oxygen when you leave the house or are exerting yourself, but your doctor is the only one who can truly make that decision with you.
