Hi Pat... It's great to be loyal to your doctor, but don't make it "blind" loyalty. Although I am no ageist, believing age is often a state of mind more than anything, still your doctor could be not up on the latest treatments. It's hard for me to say, but it does sound as though he minimizes your opinions.
However, I CAN tell you that you always have the right to a second opinion. If your doctor is so certain everything is related to your COPD, then ask for a referral to a pulmonary specialist who can evaluate you in greater depth and with greater expertise than a generalist.
Or... just change doctors, if you feel strongly enough about these issues. It's your body, your health and your life at stake. So advocate for yourself!
Take care,
Kathi
